Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research, University of Oxford

The Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research (OCBR), established in 2010 to present and promote research activity by senior scholars working in Byzantine Studies and related fields, has blossomed over the last decade, with the support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation. A hive of activity for senior academics and graduate students alike, the Centre hosted a range of special lectures, colloquia and conferences, on such topics as Byzantine Spain, the reign of the Emperor Heraclius and fiction writing in medieval Greek. The Centre has welcomed visiting academics and has continued to develop strong links with other institutions working in the field of Late Antiquity and Byzantine Studies. Highly successful conferences have been organised by the thriving postgraduate society that was attended by students from all over Europe. The Foundation supports a graduate scholarship at the OCBR.
