Nurturing academic excellence over 5 decades

The scholarship programme had been initiated by A. G. Leventis himself, who was thoroughly committed to providing the means for young people to benefit from a university education. It has been gradually systematised and greatly expanded, exclusively at university level, and since 1992- with the establishment of a University in Cyprus- only at post-graduate level.

Competition is very keen and typically, in any given year, we are only able to approve one in eight of eligible applications. Emphasis is given to the academic ability of the candidate and their economic situation. To maximise the number of students assisted, our grants cover only part of the expenses of study. 

In the last 45 years the Foundation has granted over 6,752 scholarships in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Technology, Arts, Formal and Natural Sciences, Medical and Business fields.
