MA in Museology – Cultural Management, Universities of Thessaloniki and Western Macedonia

The interuniversity postgraduate programme in Museology – Cultural Management aims at promoting conceptual planning of exhibition and museum design, museum education, presentation of archaeological heritage sites, cultural management and cultural tourism. Βesides the broadness of its focus, its specific character lies in its combination of advanced courses on reflexive theory and history with training in cultural management, design and heritage presentation planning. Internationally acclaimed scholars are also invited to give lectures and seminars. During the course, the working conditions in museums or cultural organisations are simulated, while students are also asked to deal with real-life problems in actual cultural spaces. The programme thus balances theory and practice, training graduates to anticipate culture from an innovative point of view and act accordingly. The success of the programme is attested in the continuously growing number of applications, while the financial support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation ensures that the programme can maintain its high standards in the training of students and the promotion of applied education on culture.
