Supporting young patients with heart disease, Child’s Heart
The programme supports families of children with congenital heart disease (CHD) seeking treatment in Athens, by contributing to the cost of surgery, medical examinations, rehabilitation as well as the cost of accommodation in Athens. As necessary medical procedures and interventions can only be performed in specialised rehabilitation centres and hospitals in Attica, families of children with CHD from other regions require accommodation in Attica for a prolonged period of time. Through the programme, with the aid of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, Child’s Heart has covered the costs of medical examinations and treatment for 20 children from low-income families as well as the accommodation costs for 6 other families from outside Attica, helping them with the costs of staying in Athens while the children received necessary medical treatment.
