Research scholarships, World Olive Center for Health

The World Olive Center for Health is a non-profit organization which researches and promotes the health benefits associated with olive oil consumption, providing certification for olive oil with a health claim, offering training to olive-oil producers and undertaking targeted research on the emergence of the protective and therapeutic properties of all olive products, with the ultimate aim of supporting qualitative growth in this field. Through the support of the A. G. Leventis Foundation, WOCH has furthered research on subjects such as the discovery of the active form of oleocanthal in reaching the human brain and research on the animal experimental model of multiple sclerosis and research on the possible benefits of high phenolic olive oil in the treatment the disease in humans. The results of the clinical trials with high phenolic olive oils funded and coordinated by WOCH were presented at the Fancy Food show in San Francisco, while, in collaboration with the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, WOCH also published on the effects of a long-term diet of oleocanthal-rich olive oil in protecting against Alzheimer's disease.
