Agios Ioannis Lampadistis
The monastic complex of Agios Ioannis Lampadistis is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Its origins date back to the11th Century, and it boasts two unique layers of wall paintings from the early 13th and 15th Centuries, which are without parallel in Cyprus. The Foundation has supported a six year conservation programme (2007-2012), overseen by the Department of Antiquities and the Courtauld Institute of Art, to stabilise and improve the paintings. With emphasis on technological techniques of achieving this, the project aims to preserve these invaluable works of art in the best condition possible.
