Coastal Forest Avian Monitoring Programme, A Rocha, Kenya
A Rocha, Kenya, is a non-denominational Christian conservation organization that works locally to raise awareness about conservation, promote eco-tourism, and provide the training necessary to protect and monitor their local environments. The Foundation has supported this organisation since 2011 initially by sponsoring the ‘Coastal Forest Avian Monitoring Programme’ in Kenya. The projects aims were to survey, monitor, and protect the endangered bird and mammal species in Arabuko-Sokoke forest - a biodiversity hotspot that has been identified by BirdLife International as one of the most important forests in Africa for endangered bird species. The Foundation’s grant therefore underpinned the conservation of a local environment that is crucial to the world at large, as well as to the local population who are reliant on it.
