Olympic Awards Ceremony 2023-2024: A Celebration at the Panathenaic Stadium
A morning full of sports, smiles, and Olympic values, the 2023-2024 Olympic Preparation Awards Ceremony, was hosted at the Panathenaic Stadium on Saturday, 9th March, bringing together teenagers from the SOS Children's Villages, Greece with distinguished athletes training to compete for Greece and Cyprus in the forthcoming Olympic Games.
The A. G. Leventis Foundation’s Olympic Preparation Scholarship Programme, which has supported leading athletes from Greece and Cyprus since 1999, jointly awarded 67 scholarships, in partnership with the Hellenic Olympic Committee and with the support of the Cyprus Olympic Committee and the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation, thus supporting a total of 71 athletes from 29 Olympic sports federations for the year 2023-2024.
In the imposing space of the Panathenaic Stadium, the Programme’s athlete-scholars shared their love of sports with the youngsters from SOS Children's Villages, Greece actively promoting the values of Olympism and solidarity. A chance to try new skills associated with Olympic Sports was coupled with the joy of meeting our champions, receiving autographs, but also hearing their real-life stories about their own, personal journey through sport.
